Software distribution machines in 238 Evans going away

Alexis Dinno

The software distribution machines in 238 Evans Hall--a low-powered Macintosh and Windows PC--are being removed on April 1. These machines were formerly available to campus users for downloading copies of software such as eXceed for Windows or Apple System software. Over the past year, usage of these machines has dropped dramatically, while usage of our Web-based software servers,

Berkeley Macintosh Support (http://cobweb.berkeley.edu/)
Berkeley PC/Windows Support (http://depot.berkeley.edu/)
has risen. Campus users may access these Web sites from the campus Microcomputer Facilities or, alternatively, purchase selected software packages (such as the Mac OS and the BIK) from The Scholar's Workstation.
