During summer 2005, Educational Technology Services (ETS) made upgrades to several campus general-assignment classrooms. At the same time, through improvements in construction management and design documentation, ETS Design and Engineering reduced the labor-and-materials cost per room and improved the quality of construction of UC Berkeley's instructional technology installations.

Rooms 88, 156, 160, 182, 242, and 279 in Dwinelle Hall and rooms 121, 122, 123, 130, 210, and 220 in Wheeler Hall all have, among other upgrades,

In Pimentel Hall, the old camera system has been upgraded through the installation of high-resolution cameras with better sensitivity for sharper pictures and superior performance in low-light situations. Improvements in camera optics now make it possible for the operator to zoom from a wide image of the 525-seat room to an extreme close-up of a presentation at the lectern up front. The four cameras can be controlled remotely via an AMX pan/tilt system located in the control room.
