CalAgenda Tips: Troubleshooting common problems

Sarah Jones, IST-CS

We receive a variety of questions regarding the CalAgenda service and the use of its software and wanted to address some of the more common ones.

When I try to log into my account, the software keeps asking for my offline password. What can I do?

When you install your calendar software on your desktop, files are usually installed that permit you to work offline. Then, when you do connect to the server, the offline files will update your calendar agenda on the server.

If you have changed your account password (e.g., had it reset to the default because you forgot your password), the offline password may need to be reset to match the online password. The solution is to remove the offline files and then start the Oracle Calendar software again. The software will create new copies of the files and both the files and the offline password will be reset to match the online password and calendar.

See the Knowledge Base article CalAgenda keeps asking for my offline password, which I don't have for information on how to remove the offline files.

You also have the option of setting your calendar Offline Preferences to not create offline files. Your Offline Preferences setting may also be used to help you find your offline files location.

I have a new email address. I need to update my CalAgenda directory information. How can I do this?

Because CalAgenda's directory gets its information directly from the campus CalNet Directory, all you have to do is update your listing in the campus directory. Go to the CalNet ID Management Services website (https://calnet.berkeley.edu/) and select Directory Update from the left navigation bar. You will be asked to authenticate using your current CalNet ID and passphrase. Once authenticated, click on Edit Address Information to edit the email address CalAgenda will use. You may also change your name as well as other information displayed in the directory. Once this information is updated, it usually will appear in the CalAgenda directory within a few minutes, although you may need to restart your client to see the change.

I requested that Mary's CalAgenda account be closed when she left the University. We have since discovered that she had scheduled some important meetings and now we cannot access them. What can we do?

Ask your CalAgenda account administrator to have the account reactivated briefly so you can delete the meetings after recreating them via someone else's account.

I am new to campus and want a CalAgenda account. What do I need to do?

First, you need to find out who your group's CalAgenda account administrator is. Go to the CalAgenda Support Provider: Complete List page (http://ocs2.berkeley.edu:8088/splookup/cache/allproviders.html), and search for your group's name. Alternatively, if you know the CalAgenda user name of a colleague in your group, you can go to the Support Provider Lookup page (http://calagenda.berkeley.edu/help_training/support_providers/) and enter your colleague's user name in the box. After you have determined who your account administrator is, ask the administrator to get an account for you.

I need a list of all of the people in my group who have CalAgenda accounts. How can I get this list?

First, you need to know the name of your CalAgenda administrative domain. Ask your CalAgenda account administrator for the name of your group's administrative domain. If your administrator does not know, then do the following:

In your Macintosh desktop client, go to Preferences. Under General, check Admin. domain.

In your Windows desktop client, go to Tools > Options > General > Formatting and check Admin. domain.

Now, when you do a search for a person, the admin domain they are in will follow their first name. Admin domains are assigned centrally and are names like "SumSes", "SA-DEV", "CNR-PMB", and "ETS". They are CalAgenda service abbreviations for department and group names.

Once you know the name of your CalAgenda administrative domain, select Search Directory under Tools and search for People with your group's admin domain name in the Admin. Domain field.
