Why upgrade to a newer CorporateTime client?

"CalAgenda Tips" is a regular feature of BC&C for people on campus who are using the CalAgenda online calendar service (http://calagenda.berkeley.edu/) or just want to learn more about the service. Not all topics will be of interest to all readers; some topics may be too basic for some readers and others too technical, but we hope to address the concerns and issues of as broad a segment of the campus community as possible. What version of the CorporateTime and CorporateSync clients are you using? If you haven't upgraded your client recently, it is time to consider doing so.

The current versions of CorporateTime for Windows and Macintosh offer:

• Text search of Agendas. For example, you can search for a meeting by title or for a particular attendee.
• The ability to send email meeting invitations to people not using the CalAgenda service.
• Authentication, compression, and encryption. These features will permit the CalAgenda service to use the campus CalNet service.
• Automatic sign-in (only if server is set to permit this).

CorporateTime 3.0 for the Web was just released and will be installed on the CalAgenda server in the next few weeks. It offers:

• A new day view.
• A new look (updated toolbar and color scheme).
• Group management.
• ADA compliance.
• Web server authentication.
• Enhanced Daily Notes and Day Events.

New versions of the client software are released at least once a year. The box above shows the versions that will soon be released. Those of you who use a Macintosh will need to wait until later in the year for new versions for the Macintosh platform. For those of you who may be curious about what new features these versions will offer, keep reading.

CorporateTime 6.0 for Windows will offer:

• An enhanced interface including new icons for the toolbar and entries, a reorganized toolbar, and reorganized menus and commands.
• A new event editor window which will permit viewing of your Agenda while editing an event, simplified editing of repeating meetings, and the ability to launch the Group View when creating or editing an event.
• The ability to change attendance status of all instances of a repeating meeting with a single click.
• The ability to open Group View of meeting attendees with a right click.
• The ability to mouse-over to expand names in Group View columns.

CorporateTime 5.0 for Linux and Solaris will offer:

• Support for authentication, compression, and encryption.
• An enhanced interface.
• Text searching of Agendas.
• Automatic sign-in (only if server is set to permit this).
• The ability to work during server backups.
• The ability to include details with Day Events and Daily Notes.

CorporateSync 3.0 for Palm-Windows and PocketPC for Windows will offer:

• Two-way Repeating Meeting synchronization. This will be a very welcome feature to those who want to synchronize meetings from the Palm to the server.
• Support for authentication, compression, and encryption. This support for security is another welcome feature.
• Synchronization within a specific range.
• Event, Task, and Contact synchronization.
