HRMS eRecruit launches in July

Chansonette Buck, Office of Human Resources

The Berkeley campus will graduate to a 21st century staff recruitment process when Human Resources Management System (HRMS) eRecruit goes live on July 14.

The web-based eRecruit component manages the staff recruiting process, including creating employment requisitions, applying for jobs, and the subsequent steps in the departmental hiring process. Almost every step in the current paper process will be streamlined — entering requisitions, managing interviews and offers, communicating with applicants, applicant tracking, and reporting. Applicants will be able to create accounts in the system and review openings, apply online, and track their progress.

In addition to the general recruiting tasks, the HRMS team has developed a new functionality that will enable Employment Services recruiters to manage and track the preferential rehire process for employees who are laid off or medically separated. Work orders and talent-matching processes for placement of temporary employees through Flexible Staffing Options (FSO) will also be done online.

The system will be delivered through the new PeopleSoft portal, which will go live around the same time as eRecruit and will be a central access point for the campus community to transact its administrative and business activities. HRMS Administer Workforce and a new Employee Self-Service functionality will be delivered via the portal, along with content related to the specific transactions in HRMS. Employee Self-Service will enable employees to request Direct Deposit of their paychecks online and to change some personal data such as their home addresses.

Here are a few of eRecruit's features for departments:

Applicants will see significant improvements throughout the process. For example:

Check the HRMS website (http://hrweb.berkeley.edu/hrms/hrmsmain.htm) for updates and announcements. Training for departmental staff who will use eRecruit will be rolled out through control units and departments.
