HRMS begins formal testing

Kathleen Phillips Satz, Human Resources

The Human Resources Management System (HRMS) team has begun testing the web pages modified by the technical staff following prototyping and requirements development. Working with members of the campus user group, the project team began the testing in early January and will continue through the spring as the changes to additional pages are completed. On a parallel track, the team is fine-tuning the business processes that users will follow when they begin using the system next summer.

The HRMS application, which users will access through a web-based human resources portal, will be used for recruitment and hiring of faculty and staff as well as hiring and job transactions for all employees, including students. The HR portal will serve as the Berkeley campus's main recruitment site for job applicants and will feature a separate customized home page for staff members who use HRMS for their work.

CalNet ID required

Departmental CalNet deputies should note that all HRMS users will need CalNet IDs to access the system. Every person who works at Berkeley is a potential HRMS user, because individuals will update their own home addresses and other personal information in the system. Therefore, departmental deputies may want to start now to help all employees obtain CalNet IDs, to avoid a rush of requests next summer when HRMS goes live. (For information about CalNet IDs, see the CalNet Gateway website [https://calnet.berkeley.edu/].)

For more information about the HRMS scope and timeline, see the Human Resources Management System website (http://hrweb.berkeley.edu/hrms/hrmsmain.htm), and look for future BC&C articles with more information about technical requirements, training, and system rollout.
